Fakrat Alapa, MA, LAC
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Neuroscience and Studio Art, from Drew University. Initially, I was drawn to healthcare marketing and worked as a project manager, helping to organize and create print materials for major consumer healthcare brands. However, I quickly realized that the work left me disconnected from my purpose. A year later, I decided to transition into counseling, where I found my true calling.
Passionate About Mental Health
While pursuing a master's degree in counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson University, I interned at a nonprofit mental health agency in New Jersey. There, I began my career counseling diverse people of all ages. I am passionate about addressing the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities. As a counselor, I feel truly fortunate to help my patients lead lives that resonate more deeply with their personal values. Together, we explore their unique experiences and the societal and cultural influences that have played a part in shaping who they are.
Dedicated To Getting You Connected To Care
In addition to working as a counselor, I am an office administrator for Hopkins Behavioral Health. I enthusiastically ensure that every patient receives the support they need for non-clinical tasks such as scheduling appointments, documentation, and billing. Working with HBH is perfectly aligned with my passion for serving diverse communities. My role allows me to support the behind-the-scenes efforts to connect people to care and operate a practice. I take pride in ensuring that every patient has a positive therapeutic experience from start to finish.

“Beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by its affirmation, by each of us claiming the identities and cultural legacies that shape who we are and how we live in the world.”
